Pine Shire Council Roll of Honour
History
“At the monthly meeting of the Pine Shire Council, Chairman, Councillor Smith presiding, Councillor Johnston suggested that an Honour Board should be erected at the Strathpine Railway Station. The matter was left in the hands of Mr Leitch a well-known rate payer”. The Board was made by John Hicks a cabinet maker from Brisbane. It has been French Polished and made of Queensland Maple – a photograph of it appeared with other Queensland Shire & Council Honour Boards for WW1 in the Queenslander newspaper of 1st December 1917.
It may have been in the Shire Hall until the Strathpine Residents Shield was created in 1923 from public subscriptions – nothing is known of its fate.
It listed 57 servicemen from all corners of the old Pine Shire, known to have been serving or paying the ultimate sacrifice for King and Country.
