Anzac Park Rededication Ceremony
The Redidication Cermony for Anzac Park was held in Anzac Park on Saturday 8th August 2015. This event was drawn together by Anzac Memorial Avenue Centennial Committee (AMACC) and Cr David Dwyer (MBRC). There were many dignitaries on hand and a large contingent of local Community Groups including, North Pine Historical Society, Murrumba District Scouts, AMACC, The Naval Association, RAAFA, The Salvation Army, The Light horse, a Pipe Band and many more.
Local Schools were also there in support, led by Mt Maria College students who created the mosaic tile centrepiece of the park and Undurba State School students who were involved in the wreath laying ceremony.
Dignitaries included Peter Dutton MP, Cr David Dwyer, Judy Kranen OAM, Mr Scriven (New Zealand representative) and many others.
The wreath laying ceremony saw a large contingent of local people and groups wishing to lay wreaths around the centre pole. There was also a significant planting of two Lone Pines by dignitaries.
The ceremony was a great success, with many local residents coming along to show their respect. It was also a chance for “old mates” to catch up and remember the history of which they were a part. The ANZAC spirit is alive and well in the Moreton Bay Region.
